Winter Tips...

Winter brings new challenges to our herb gardens. They will be growing much slower due to the shorter daylength and cool/cold soil temperatures, but many, if not most herbs, survive our Florida winters and actually do well because of the low humidity and warm days.

  • Prune Back Older Growth

(Pruning at this time of year is often discouraged by some because the new growth will be susceptible to frosts and freezing temperatures, but because growth is slow now, the pruning will provide an early framework for a more lush plant in the spring.)

  • Fertilize minimally, using organic, slow release fertilzer.
  • Sow seed now if you already haven't.
  • Time for winter weeding
